Today I am so exhausted...went to library@orchard to do comm service. *brightens* But Tracy and Jane were with me, so it wasn't so bad! Yesterday and today we were shelving and talking about a lot of corny stuff. Excerpts from conversations today:
On ransacking of newly-appeared library books
Tracy: Someone should take a video cam and film this amazing phenomena. You see people raiding the book trolley for the books they want! They're almost like vultures.
Jane: *laughing* You make them sound like scavengers.
Kai: Scavengers don't go, oh I want the heart, you take the intestines. No, I want the heart, YOU take the intestines.
Tracy: No, they just flap around and make loud squawking noises at each other, and the other backs down.
Kai: Or fights back.
Tracy: Or fights back. And then you have flying feathers everywhere, which you can add to your(me, that's ME! I collect feathers, not Tracy) feather collection. Except that they'd be bloody, so you'll have to wash them first.
Kai: ...I always wash my feathers.
On why there are dragons on book covers
1)The author likes dragons.
2)The illustrator likes dragons.
3)The illustrator thinks he draws dragons very well.
4)The humans are at war with the dragons.
5)The dragons are at war with the humans. (Er, the difference is because we can't decide whether the dragons or the humans started it)
6)The people are tired of darkness (the book title is In the Darkness, and the backgroud behind the dragon is pretty dark, and it's shooting out flames) and so they get dragons to brighten the place.
Kai: How often do the dragons have to send out bursts of flame?
Tracy: You don't want to know.
7)The author/illustrator wants to be a dragon.
Tracy:...
On zombies
Jane: I feel like a zombie.
Kai: Well, then creep into your grave and sleep.
Jane: I thought zombies don't have graves.
Kai: No, they have large crypts where all the zombies sleep together like one great big family.
Tracy: I thought the point of being a zombie was to not have all that.
Shelving books is boring, yes.
