I suppose this is called rippling: the way the dark bands on the water move and merge into each other, forming an ever-shifting lattice of light and dark water, reflecting the shifting greyness of the clouds and the whiter sky. And water really does splash, the exact same way water splashes against the side of the tub when you sweep your arms vigorously. Plus there's an angle, walking up from Fullerton, where the Singapore River looks gorgeous, with the exact right blend of modern and old fashioned on the far bank, but there's no seats there.

Fullerton really does suit its spot on the Singapore River, fitting in with all the colonial buildings and the equally old-fashioned bridge right next to it. And whoever did the interior design of Fullerton, especially the Lighthouse and the toilets and the main lobby and the koi pond with the staircase sweeping over it, should be commended.

Fortune teller offered to tell my fortune, saying that I was pretty. I told him no.
