Some time ago I posted my second piece of fanfic on the net.
I posted it on some message board, and told very few. Why? Well, I dunno. Too many reasons, but I'll try to list them all.
I had been bouncing around that fic idea for quite some time. Firstly, the idea wasn't even mine, it was inspired by a thread about what the JL was like as kids. That made me think that would be a good way to know the characters better. So I wrote the first part, and sat on it. Sat on it for so long that someone else actually managed to finish a not-so-good fic on the same topic.
Then I found I was destined to be an accountant. It hit me hard; I really wanted to be a doctor and now I wasn't even in Med. But when I thought about it, I felt ... freer. I have a life plan already; once I get my Bachelor's, I'll do my Masters or CPA in UK or US. And then I'll work there 3 years. And another country 3 years. And every 3 years, a new place. When I'm done, I'll come back to Singapore, retire and write books. Publish them.
So, since I'm actually considering writing, I'm going to write. For an audience. But mostly for myself.
I guess that's why I went crazy and posted that fic, and why it's a multi-parter, not a one-shot. For once, I'm actually going to finish a multi-parter. And accept flak from people I don't know at all.
