Still in the learning phase of work, so all I had to do today was plow through a bunch of books and reading material. My workplace seriously needs some plants. I was staring at the computer screen and books all day and my eyes are really exhausted. Plants would be good. I came on time but the office was entirely EMPTY so I spent my time decorating my desk. I finished long before the main group of people came in at 8.45, but I still have a second round to go.
It seems like the general rule of thumb in this workplace is that you hang out with people in the same batch as you despite being in different departments. So today (and it seems like from today onwards) I hung out with the people who came in at the same time as me. There's a pretty good batch, about 4 of us. One of the guys brought a friend who came in early so now we have a merry crew of 5. We're expecting more soon. ^^
My workplace was really empty today as everyone was out on inspection. That was both good and bad. The good thing was that it was really quiet and comfy. The bad thing was that I wasn't sure if I should chat with the only guy in the office. ^^ He was sort of busy. And I need someone to walk me through the abbreviations this job uses, it's driving me up the wall. Even a Google search doesn't give me any hints on what on earth 'fa' and 'fip' mean. ESPECIALLY when it relates to things I'm supposed to do!
Another strange thing I've been doing is drinking a lot of water, and going to the toilet just as often. I almost feel like Yvette and her habit of going to the toilet hourly. It's kinda awkward because to get to the pantry I have to walk past the office of the head of the ENTIRE department, and to get to the toilet I have to walk past the office of the head of my team. Our entire workplace also has this 'open door' policy that is manifested literally, so the door is open and they can see what is happening. XD It's kind of strange. But I'll get used to it.
